Biography

Twenty-five years ago James was just a taxi driver, a bright, cheerful, friendly, chatty taxi driver; but just a taxi driver. But then one night he found himself reciting a poem to some passengers in his cab, and

The Taxi Driver Poet was born!!

Up until that point poetry had only ever been a private passion,

but suddenly James found himself performing regularly (and by demand!!) to an ever growing group of passengers and fans.

Eventually he gave up the taxi and began performing in local pubs and clubs and theatres. He has performed to well over 300 Women's Institutes in 35 counties as well as to many U3As, Probus Groups, Rotaries, Roundtables, Tangents, Golf Clubs, Retired Staff Associations, and at very many private bookings and dinner parties.

Today he spends his time writing and performing his poetry whenever and wherever he can, reliving his journeys and encounters along the way. His style is irreverent and light-hearted, casual and comical; his delivery is crisp and accomplished.

He works mainly across the southern counties of England (approximately 80-100 miles from Bournemouth) but is happy to travel further afield. His fee is £120 plus travel, and he is very happy to consider last minute bookings.
